A useful submission gives readers enough specific context to understand what happened without exposing private information or making unsupported accusations.
What makes a strong submission
Relevant timing
Include the approximate date and time so the account is not confused with an older event.
Firsthand context
State what you personally saw or experienced and separate it from what someone else told you.
Supporting material
If you have permission to share photos or documents, describe what they show without revealing private details.
Do not submit
- Threats, harassment, private addresses, phone numbers, or private account information.
- Intimate images or material involving minors.
- Claims you know are false or content designed to impersonate another person.
- Copyrighted articles copied from another publisher.
- Private medical, financial, or legal documents.
Names and anonymity
A public nickname may be used for community participation. Contact information supplied through a private submission form is intended for receiving and following up on the submission and should not be displayed with the story.
Reader submissions may be unverified, edited for safety or clarity, labeled appropriately, or removed under the community rules.
